The National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum unveiled two officially licensed bobbleheads of the Detroit Lakes, Minn., native. One is in his Minnesota State, Mankato college uniform and the other as a Viking.
CRYSTAL, Minn. -- Authorities are investigating an officer-involved shooting that left one hospitalized Wednesday night, May 23, in this eastern Twin Cities suburb. The individual is being treated for injuries that were not life-threatening, the Minnesota Department of Public Safety Bureau of Criminal Apprehension said in a statement.

PINE RIVER— A church in the north-central Minnesota town of Pine River was destroyed by fire Wednesday, May 23. About 2:30 p.m., a fire was reported at Faith Assembly of God Church in Pine River with radio traffic on the police scanner indicated the building was "fully engulfed" in flames. Firefighters tried to contain the flames, as well as retrieve whatever documents, books, and valuables could be saved from the church offices.
WILLMAR, Minn.— Willmar Police officers arrested a Nebraska woman Tuesday afternoon who was wanted for fleeing with her three sons she had lost custody of from Norfolk on Feb. 19. Juana Jose Larios, 21, was working in the city under an alias and arrested on charges of forgery and being a fugitive from justice. The three sons, all under age 5, were found to be in good health and were placed in the custody of family services.
LITCHFIELD, Minn. — A central Minnesota man faces multiple charges, including criminal vehicular homicide, in connection with a fatal crash May 4 at a highway intersection north of Grove City. Blake Lee Ahlbrecht, 60, of Grove City is accused of driving under the influence of alcohol when his van failed to stop at a stop sign and collided with a semi at the intersection of Minnesota Highway 4 and Meeker County Highway 16.
BENSON, Minn. — A western Minnesota man is in a Minneapolis hospital after he was injured earlier this week in an explosion at a rural residence east of Benson. The injured man was identified as Brian Orsten, 51, of Benson. He was initially taken to the Swift County Benson Hospital and later airlifted to the Minneapolis hospital, according to Swift County Sheriff John Holtz.
REYKJAVIK, ICELAND—A southeastern Minnesota couple died in a fishing accident Sunday, May 19, while on vacation in Iceland. Janet Veit's sister confirmed their deaths on Facebook. There were conflicting accounts about what happened to the La Crescent residents.. The U.S. Embassy in Iceland told the family that Veit fell out of a boat while fishing on a lake, and her husband, Brian Schumacher, jumped in to save her.
