Northwoods League: Huskies close home schedule with victory
The Duluth Huskies closed out their Northwoods League regular-season home schedule with an all-around effort, utilizing offensive contributions throughout the lineup to beat Rochester 7-3 on Friday night in front of announced crowd of 4,039 at Wade Stadium.
Eight batters had a hit and seven baserunners scored in the Huskies' win, which snapped a four-game losing streak.
Duluth (16-19 second half) jumped ahead 3-0 in the fourth inning after Chase Strumpf and Rob Emery collected RBI doubles, but the Honkers (14-18) tied the game with a three-run sixth.
Jordan Hovey doubled home Jack Stronach to give the Huskies a 4-3 lead in the seventh, before Duluth pulled away with three-run eighth.
Greg Brown earned the win with a scoreless seventh, while St. Scholastica product Joe Gonrowski completed a six-out save without allowing a hit.
The Huskies finish the season at Waterloo, Iowa, with a two-game series, beginning at 6:35 p.m. today.
