College track and field: Saints compete in last-chance meets
In the final week of competition ahead of the NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships, four St. Scholastica athletes had top-four finishes in a pair of last-chance meets.
At the Gregory Final Qualifier in Naperville, Ill., senior Jacob Gallagher finished runner-up in the 10,000 meters with a time of 33 minutes, 10.18 seconds, while teammate Frank Cerar finished second in the discus en route to a sixth-place finish in the decathlon Thursday.
In the women's division, senior Taylor Gibson took second in the 800 meters with a program-record time (2:13.09) and Hannah Russert wrapped up a fourth-place finish in the heptathlon while setting a program record with 4,477 points.
• In the Last Chance Qualifier in La Crosse, Wis., on Thursday, the Saints' Brittany Ludwig finished fourth in the discus throw.
