Funding for government lapses as short-term spending bill stalls in the Senate

Jack E. Wihela, age 78, of Cloquet died of lung cancer on January 12, 2018. He was born December 21, 1939 in Hibbing to Walter and Florence Wihela. Jack graduated from Hibbing High School in 1958 and Bemidji State in 1965 with a degree in Industrial Arts and Art Education. He taught in Monticello, International Falls, St. Louis County Schools, retiring from Albrook High School. Jack had also worked for the Bechtel Corp. He was united in marriage to Mary Kay Markovich on November 28, 1975.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Mary Kay; brother, Robert (Mary Ann) of Hibbing; brother-in-law, Jim (Rebecca) Markovich of Hibbing, sister-in-law, Sue Bokros; nieces and nephews, Don, Alan, Dan, Michael, Nick, and Lindsay; great-nephews and nieces, Zachary, Jasper, Avery, Kaija, Hadley and Kennedy. He is also survived by "special children", Heather, Mary, and Bear; and his friends at Family Tradition Restaurant who were like family. A special thanks to our special friends, Sara and John, Paula and Dave, and Lil.

Visitation will be Thursday, January 18, 2018 from 3:00 p.m. until the 4:00 p.m. memorial service at Nelson Funeral Care in Cloquet, followed with a meal in the fellowship room. See the family online guest book at www.nelsonfuneralcare.net.
