Duluth church’s safe removed during burglary

A small safe taken during a burglary at Concordia Lutheran Church was recovered outside the church.

The Duluth Police Department received a report at about 7:45 a.m. Thursday that the church at 2501 Woodland Ave. had been burglarized. The burglary occurred sometime overnight by someone forcing a door open, according to the police department.

Although the church’s safe was removed during the burglary, it was left intact outside and it’s unknown why it was left behind, according to the police department. Nothing else appeared to be missing, but the investigation is continuing.
