• The 19th annual Cause for the Paws 5K walk/run begins at 9 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 9, on the Osaugie Trail across from Barker's Island in Superior. The event will follow the trail to McDonalds and then return to the Barker's Island area. Event-day registration begins at 8 a.m. Registration is $40 for individuals and $95 for families. Human participants receive a T-shirt and canines receive a bandana. Participants who raise at least $50 in pledges beyond the entry fee will also get a race sweatshirt. Dogs must be leashed and have proof of rabies vaccination.

• The Arrowhead Chapter of Military Order of Purple Heart will auction off a 1977 Ford F-150 at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 9, at Benna Ford in Superior. The truck can be seen on Benna's showroom floor. The truck was donated to the organization and Benna Ford has done all safety checks and completed updates as necessary. Hammer Body Shop did minor touch-ups and made the truck look like new. All money raised from auction will go back to helping veteran causes.
